I chose Fantastic Hands in New Braunfels based on their 5-star ratings, but my experience was extremely uncomfortable and unprofessional. From the start, the therapist did not introduce herself, explain the session, or ask about my goals or problem areas. I had to point out the intake form myself. She seemed more focused on upselling CBD oil and cupping than conducting a proper intake. Once in the room, she gave no instructions on how to get on the table — I had to ask whether she wanted me face up or face down. Draping was inappropriate and happened more than once. When she returned to the room, she fully lifted the sheet, exposing my back. During the session, she pulled the sheet and my underwear down over my glutes without consent. I immediately told her it was too far and adjusted myself. Later, after I decided to end the 90-minute session early due to discomfort, she repeated the same behavior while applying a hot towel, and I again had to tell her to stop. Communication was a major issue. When I asked for changes because the work did not feel good, she used Google Translate and still did not understand. At one point, a person identifying herself as the manager entered the room while I was partially undressed and left the door wide open to the reception area, exposing me to the public space. That was a serious violation of privacy. Even though I was unhappy with the session, I still paid before leaving. As an experienced massage therapist and a nursing student, I can confidently say this did not meet basic professional or ethical standards. Improper draping, lack of consent, inability to communicate, and privacy violations are not acceptable. If you experience anything similar, you can file a complaint with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR), which oversees licensed massage establishments. I would strongly encourage others to be cautious and to speak up if something feels wrong.
